Elephant shaped rock, Hestan Island in the Solway Firth

Elephant Rock

Natural Land Art

On the rocky foreshore lying to the west of Hestan is unmistakeable naturally occurring shape – the Elephant Rock – so named because of its peculiar shape. Situated near to the foot of Boretree Heugh, this monumental rock formation really does resemble an elephant, complete with trunk and all!

The Elephant Rock is easily reached by foot over the shore rocks from the main beach on the west side of the Island.
